Nanostructured Group-III Nitrides for Photoelectrocatalytic Applications and Renewable Energy Harvesting

Leveraging on the unique solar light absorption behavior, chemical stability, and piezoelectric properties, nanostructured group-III-nitrides were utilized for implementing various renewable energy harvesting and conversion applications. By using different dimensional nanostructures, especially nanowires, and nanoporous membranes, this dissertation explored the practical applications in photocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction, photocatalytic wastewater remediation, and flexible self-powered piezoelectric sensing.

Galo Torres Sevilla obtained both, his MS Degree and Phd Degree in Electrical Engineering in the Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Science & Engineering division of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. He was a member of the Futuristic Electronics and Integrated Nanotechnology Lab and his Thesis was supervised by Prof. Muhammad Mustafa Hussain. Research Interest Galo's research interests include Flex-Si platform to demonstrate energy harvesting devices and nano-structured transistors for high-performance logic operation.
