Meet KAUST prospective student: Yingquan Li

Yingquan Li, 21, is an electrical engineering graduate who will join KAUST in the fall of 2020. He will join KAUST as a M.S./Ph.D. candidate in the KAUST Communication Theory Lab under the supervision of Professor Mohamed-Slim Alouini. An initial reference from a supervisor spurred his interest in joining KAUST, which resulted in a visiting student opportunity at KAUST. During his internship, Li was amazed by the facilities and research standard found on campus. It was this combination of impressive factors that inspired him to continue his academic career at the University.

Outstanding KAUST research acknowledged by leading photonics journal

KAUST professors Boon Ooi and Osman Bakr and their respective research groups have recently had their collaborative research recognized by one of the major journals for optics and photonics, Light: Science & Applications (LSA). The teams’ paper— titled "High-speed color-converting photodetector with all-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals for ultraviolet light communication—" was awarded as an “Outstanding Paper of Light: Science & Applications in 2020.”

Mehdi Amhoud is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Communication Theory Lab, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), working with Professor Slim Alouini. Education and Early Career Mehdi received the Ph.D. degree in communications & electronic from Télécom ParisTech, Paris, France, in 2017.
